Beton Cire Specialist Utrecht
Seamless surfaces for a city full of character.
Microcement that fits Utrecht
Utrecht is a city of contrasts. Medieval cellars beneath the Oudegracht, narrow canal houses with steep staircases, and just outside the city, spacious farmhouses in the Green Heart. That calls for a material that adapts to the space, not the other way around. Microcement is just 2-4 mm thin. It is applied over the existing surface, without demolition. In a narrow canal house where every centimetre counts, that is a real advantage. No thick buildup, no weeks of renovation. Just a seamless surface that brings the calm old walls deserve.
In Harmelen, a fifteen-minute drive from the Dom Tower, we worked on a farmhouse where 140 m2 of microcement floor flows seamlessly from living room to kitchen island. We bring that same craftsmanship to Utrecht and its surroundings. Whether it concerns a 1930s home in Tuindorp, an apartment on the Catharijnesingel or a listed building in the city centre.
Discipline As Foundation
Coated Surfaces grew out of a world where precision isn't negotiable. Founder Pom spent years as a professional dancer at Cirque du Soleil. Every night the same movement, down to the millimetre. That might sound far from floors and walls, but it's the opposite.
Microcement demands exactly that same control. Timing, feel, precision. The difference between a good floor and an exceptional one comes down to millimetres. We take the time it needs. No rushing, no half measures. Just lasting surfaces that bring calm to a space.

Applications in Utrecht homes
Utrecht has a remarkable mix of buildings. The wharf cellars along the Oudegracht are unique in the Netherlands, and they bring their own challenges. Moisture, uneven substrates, limited access. Microcement is a natural choice here: the thin build-up of just a few millimetres works on virtually any existing floor or wall, and the material moves with the building without cracking.
In 1930s homes in Tuindorp and Wittevrouwen, I often hear the same wish: a modern look without losing the character of the house. A Forcrete microcement floor on the ground level, running uninterrupted from hallway to kitchen, gives those rooms a cohesive calm. With underfloor heating beneath, you get a comfortable warm floor that visually never stops.
Staircases in Utrecht canal houses are often narrow and steep. Microcement on stair treads can be finished slip-resistant and creates a continuous line from floor to floor. Near Utrecht, in Harmelen, I finished a 140 square metre farmhouse - from the open kitchen to the bathroom. Projects like that show that microcement works just as well in a spacious rural property as in a compact city apartment.

Why microcement in Utrecht?
Utrecht properties have character, but also limitations. Low ceilings, narrow passageways, protected facades. Microcement works without heavy machinery and without demolition. It is applied layer by layer by hand, exactly where needed. As a certified Forcrete installer, we guarantee a waterproof, scratch-resistant finish that suits the look and feel of your home.
From a canal house in the city centre to new construction in Leidsche Rijn - we know the difference. In the wharf cellars along the Oudegracht, the substrate demands extra attention: moisture, uneven masonry, limited ventilation. That is where Forcrete excels, because the system is fully waterproof and does not transfer moisture to the structure. In Tuindorp and around Wilhelminapark, we regularly work in 1930s homes where the original character needs to be preserved. And just outside Utrecht, we completed a 140 m2 microcement floor in a farmhouse in Harmelen - proof that we tackle larger projects in the region with the same precision. Every project starts with an honest conversation about what is achievable and what works best for your situation.
How does a microcement project work in Utrecht?
We start with an on-site inspection. In Utrecht, that is essential, because the substrate differs enormously from one neighbourhood to the next. A new-build apartment in Leidsche Rijn has a level cement screed, but a wharf cellar on the Oudegracht is a completely different story. We assess the situation honestly and tell you exactly what is needed before we can start. After the inspection, you receive a proposal with colour options, a realistic planning and a fixed price. In the city centre, we account for limited parking and narrow access points - we plan material transport so your neighbours are not inconvenienced. The execution is quiet and clean. No demolition hammers, no dust clouds. Each layer is built up by hand and given time to cure. After completion, we do a walk-through together. And should you have a question a few weeks later, we are just a short drive away.
