From the Stage to the Surface

Before I ever touched a trowel, I spent my life in movement. I performed with Cirque du Soleil, appeared on Dancing with the Stars and The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and took the stage across 36 countries.

When the world stopped in 2020, so did the shows. Like so many artists, I had to find a new way to channel that same energy, precision, and passion that performing had always demanded of me. I found my way into construction, starting out as a traditional plasterer. It’s a deeply skilled craft, but one that left my creative side hungry for more.

Then I discovered Italian plaster. These centuries-old techniques, built on skill and precision, reminded me of something: performance at its highest level. I earned certifications with the specialist manufacturers Novacolor and VeroMetal, and never looked back.

As my craft deepened, I earned my Forcrete certification. I have now worked with its microcement for more than three years. The system complemented my experience with hand-applied finishes and extended my work to seamless floors, walls, bathrooms and kitchens.

The transition from plasterer to decorative specialist was no accident. I flew to Italy for intensive training with Novacolor, where I learned to work with Venetian plaster, marmorino and tadelakt. I then trained with VeroMetal in Germany in the cold application of liquid metal. That combination of study and hands-on practice called for the same discipline I had learned on stage.

In 2021, I founded Coated Surfaces, based in Schiedam. Since then, I have worked on homes and commercial interiors in the Netherlands, from bathrooms and living floors to decorative walls and bespoke objects. Every project is a chance to show what craft and dedication can achieve together.

Specialisations

Microcement

Seamless finishes for floors, walls, bathrooms and kitchens. With the Forcrete system, we select a build-up for each space that suits the substrate, loading and connections.

Venetian Plaster

Timeless depth and luminosity, hand-applied in the traditional Italian method. Our Novacolor-certified techniques create authentic finishes with a natural lustre that only handcraft can achieve.

VeroMetal® Liquid Metal

Cold-applied real metal for dramatic, one-of-a-kind results. As a certified VeroMetal specialist, we work with bronze, copper, brass, iron, and aluminium, each ageing into a unique patina.

Marmorino

A polished marble-effect plaster with extraordinary texture and elegance. Built from multiple thin layers of marble dust and lime, polished to a deep, natural sheen.

Concrete Effects

The raw, architectural look of concrete without the weight or limitations. Perfect for industrial and minimalist interiors, applied with a controlled technique for the ideal balance between raw and refined.

Exterior Finishes

Decorative exterior finishes require a product system suited to the substrate, exposure, drainage and local climate. We assess suitability and the build-up for each project.

Training and certification

Novacolor · Certified Applicator

At Novacolor in Italy, I trained in decorative techniques including Venetian plaster, marmorino and tadelakt. That training underpins how I select materials and build up these finishes.

VeroMetal® · Certified Application Specialist

At VeroMetal in Germany, I trained in the cold application and finishing of liquid metal. I use that process with materials including bronze, copper, brass, iron and aluminium.

Forcrete · Specialist Applicator

My Forcrete certification covers substrate preparation, the layer build-up and hand application of its microcement system. For each project, I assess the required preparation, texture and finish.

What sets my work apart isn’t just technical skill. It’s the conversation before a single coat is applied. I take time with every client to understand the light in their space, the feeling they want to wake up to, and the colours that move them.

My background as a performer taught me that the best results come from precision and rehearsal, from knowing your craft so thoroughly that the creative choices feel effortless. That’s exactly how I approach every surface I work on.

Every project starts with a personal conversation and a site visit. I assess the substrate, discuss the options, and create custom samples. Only when you are fully satisfied with the colour, texture, and finish do I begin the work. No surprises, just results.
