Microcement in Laren

A floor beneath a collection of art, a wall behind timber cabinetry or a bathroom with quiet lines: the relationship between materials matters. The historic character around the Brink sits alongside homes with very different layouts and renovation histories. That does not lead to a standard specification. In an extended house, the junction between an original room and a newer kitchen may require more attention than choosing between two grey samples.

We start with the space and its existing base. Interior photographs help establish a direction, but the specification also depends on cracks, levels and junctions with other finishes. A calm surface is the outcome of that preparation.

A continuous living floor can connect an open interior while a kitchen or fireplace wall has more visible movement. Related colours do not require identical textures. We consider viewing distance, daylight and adjacent materials; grazing light makes handwork especially visible on a large wall.

For an island, niche or vanity, the supporting form must be right first. Microcement is a finish, not a structural material. Corners, edges and openings should be detailed before the joinery is built, so the supporting trades can allow for the coating.

Bathroom drainage and floor-to-wall junctions matter as much as colour. We use a waterproof Forcrete system over a suitable base. Necessary movement joints and flexible connections stay in place, even where the overall design aims for visual continuity.

A screen shows colour but not how a surface feels or catches the light. A physical sample lets us discuss texture and sheen alongside your timber, cabinet door or stone sample. That makes a more useful starting point than a general request for a concrete look.
