A living room opening into a kitchen and a shop opening onto a stockroom have different requirements. Both may benefit from a calm, continuous appearance, but the access routes, cleaning and furniture loads need their own consideration. A shared colour does not mean every surface receives the same preparation.

When rooms have been joined, show where the old dividing wall stood and where the floor materials change. Those interfaces belong in the assessment. A decorative finish is not a structural repair, and necessary movement joints must remain part of the design. Phasing may help with access, but it should be agreed alongside the finish boundaries and curing requirements, not treated as a guaranteed way to stay open.

The proposal should identify the preparation, the agreed sample, the work area and the route for other trades. Keep the sample as a reference for colour and texture, not as a promise that hand-applied work repeats an identical pattern. Before reopening, confirm which uses are permitted and give the cleaning instructions to the person who will maintain the space.
