Refined craftsmanship for a city with allure.

About Microcement

Bespoke microcement in The Hague

The Hague sets high standards. In the Statenkwartier, behind the quiet facades of the Archipelbuurt, in the townhouses along the Voorhout - everywhere you find interiors where every detail is right. Microcement fits that tradition. No busy patterns, no visible seams. Just a clean, continuous surface that lets the space breathe.

In a Hague bathroom, microcement replaces tiles and grout with a seamless whole. Walls, floor and shower become one continuous surface. 100% waterproof, mould-resistant, and beautiful for years without maintaining sealant edges.

Along the coast, in Scheveningen and Kijkduin, we see more and more beachfront homes and apartments where owners deliberately choose a material that withstands salt and moisture. Microcement feels like a natural choice there. Raw enough for a coastal feel, refined enough for a luxury interior.

We work for private clients, but also for embassies, hotels and listed buildings where discretion and quality come first.

About Coated Surfaces

Discipline As Foundation

Coated Surfaces grew out of a world where precision isn't negotiable. Founder Pom spent years as a professional dancer at Cirque du Soleil. Every night the same movement, down to the millimetre. That might sound far from floors and walls, but it's the opposite.

Microcement demands exactly that same control. Timing, feel, precision. The difference between a good floor and an exceptional one comes down to millimetres. We take the time it needs. No rushing, no half measures. Just lasting surfaces that bring calm to a space.

Applications

Applications in The Hague residences

The Hague brings together two worlds: the stately townhouses of the Statenkwartier and Archipelbuurt, and the coastal life of Scheveningen and Kijkduin. Both demand different things from materials, and microcement delivers in both cases.

In the grand houses along the Voorhout and Laan van Meerdervoort, I work with Forcrete microcement in bathrooms and en-suite rooms. Large, seamless walls in a warm tone give those high-ceilinged rooms a luxury that matches the property. On countertops and in walk-in showers, I create surfaces that are waterproof and built to last for years. For listed buildings, the low weight is a major advantage: no extra load on historic floor structures.

Closer to the coast, moisture plays a bigger role. Sea air, condensation, bathrooms used heavily after a day at the beach. The sealer I apply over Forcrete microcement protects against water and makes surfaces easy to keep clean. In seaside apartments near Kijkduin, I have finished floors, shower walls, and vanity units as one continuous whole. The salt resistance of the system is not a luxury here but a necessity.

For hotels and embassies in the international zone, microcement provides a distinguished finish that matches the standing of the building, without the intensive renovation that natural stone or tiles require.

Reviews

What clientssay

We are incredibly happy with our new floor. Pom is a true craftsman. Highly recommended!

Ila Luijten

Pom gave our bathroom a complete makeover. The walls with beton cire and the floor with microcement. The end result is calm and modern. Very satisfied with Pom's expertise, his way of working, and the final result.

Martijn van Wijk

Our kitchen and living room have been completely transformed. The seamless transition between the spaces makes everything feel so spacious. Pom really thinks along with you and delivers top quality.

Why Coated Surfaces

Why microcement in The Hague?

The Hague's homes demand a finish that matches their stature. Microcement delivers that. Seamless, timeless, and with a look that suits a stately townhouse just as well as a modern penthouse by the sea. We are a certified Forcrete installer - one of the few in the Netherlands. Every surface is built up by hand, layer by layer. No rushed work. Only the result that suits your home.

In the Statenkwartier and the Archipelbuurt, we work in properties with high ceilings, ornamental mouldings and original details that you want to preserve. Microcement adapts to that environment without losing anything. In Scheveningen and Kijkduin, the salt air brings additional requirements - the Forcrete system can handle that. We have experience with homes where the owners' association enforces strict rules, with listed buildings where the municipality is involved, and with interiors where every square metre counts. No standard solution, but a finish that matches the character of The Hague: stylish, solid and with respect for tradition.

Process

How does a microcement project work in The Hague?

Every project in The Hague starts with a personal visit. We take in the space, examine the substrate and listen to what you have in mind. In a townhouse in the Benoordenhout, that is a different conversation than in a beach apartment in Scheveningen - and that is how it should be. After the visit, you receive a tailored proposal: colour selection based on your interior and light conditions, a planning that accounts for any owners' association agreements, and a fixed price with no fine print. During execution, we work neatly and in a controlled manner. In listed buildings, we protect existing elements carefully. In apartments, we coordinate working hours with your neighbours. The Forcrete system is built up layer by layer and sealed. After completion, you receive maintenance instructions so your microcement looks just as good in ten years as it does on day one.
